The low maintenance requirements of stainless steels combined with their
wide range of mechanical properties position stainless steels above many
of the more traditional materials used in architecture and construction.
The “Green” properties of stainless steels meet today’s environmental
requirements. Life cycle cost analysis also makes the use of stainless
products attractive. Additionally ATI offers material substitution
solutions than can reduce overall project costs by offering a more stable
cost per pound as well as possible weight reduction by taking advantage
of higher strength alloys. The lean ATI 2003® duplex stainless steel
could be a viable alternative where the traditional ATI 2205™ duplex
and/or T316L alloys have been specified. Our newest lean grade, ATI 2102™
duplex alloy, has better corrosion resistance than T304L in most
applications and performs as well as T316L in many enviroments, while at
the same time having the higher strength characteristic of duplex
stainless steels. The 200 series ATI 201LN™ and ATI 201HP™ alloys can
often be substituted for T304, T304L and T301, again at a lower cost per
pound and possibly with fewer pounds required because of their higher
strength.
