Principal Products: Cold rolled stainless steel - sheet and strip
The Vandergrift plant consists of 63 acres with approximately 1.1
million square feet under roof. Purchased in 1988 from USX Corporation, it represents a capital investment of
over $200 million to improve productivity, quality and capacity for finishing stainless steel. Plant facilities
include a coil buildup line, two turbulent-flow anneal and pickle lines, 62 and 52 inch Sendzimir mills, a 62
inch temper mill, and an advanced slitting and packaging center.
The plant also features a sophisticated computer system, which controls the processing equipment,
as well as the movement and tracking of material throughout the plant done by the automated guided
vehicles (AGVs). The Vandergrift plant has an estimated capacity of 300,000 tons/year and
processes a wide variety of 200 and 300 series stainless steel grades, and slits a wide
variety of specialty alloys.
