  High-temperature alloys for aircraft turbines developed, major contribution to the war effort and future space travel

  Allegheny Ludlum first commercialized superalloys melted by a consumable electrode vacuum remelting process
1956
  Major expansion brings all company research work to Brackenridge Technical Center
1960

  Patent awarded for development of Type 409 stainless steel for automotive exhaust systems

  Acquisition of Jessop Steel makes Allegheny Ludlum a fully integrated producer of specialty steel plate products
1996
  Combined with Teledyne, Inc. and became part of the Allegheny Teledyne specialty metal companies
1998
  Allegheny Ludlum completes asset purchase from and long-term conversion agreement with Bethlehem Steel Corporation, adding melt capacity and the ability to produce wide sheet and plate products
1999
  Allegheny Teledyne completes its transformation and changes its name to Allegheny Technologies Incorporated. Allegheny Technologies consists of Allegheny Ludlum, Allvac, Oremet-Wah Chang, Rome Metals, Metalworking Products, Casting Service, and Portland Forge
1999
  Allegheny Ludlum acquires assets of Lukens’ Washington Steel Division from Bethlehem Steel Corporation further enhancing finishing capacity for sheet and strip
2004
  Jewel Acquisition, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allegheny Ludlum, acquires most of the assets of J&L Specialty Steel, LLC which include a melt facility in Midland, PA and a finishing facility in Louisville, OH.
